Born in Liverpool, England,
I have been a dedicated photographer since the early 1950s while serving
in the British Army. I work exclusively in medium format black and
white. I develop, print, enlarge, mat and frame all my own work.
My interests are varied, and
I do not specialize in any particular field of photography. I cover
a broad range of subjects. I try to create images that are interesting,
tell a story, or that represent periods in time. I practice direct
photography with as little manipulation of the subject as possible.
Over the years I have exhibited
and sold my work in England, South America (Venezuela), and in the
United States in California and Colorado. I also have prints in private
collections in England, California, Colorado, Georgia, Texas, Virginia
and Florida. My work has been displayed in Photographer's Gallery
in Denver, and is currently on display at various galleries in the
Colorado Springs area, the Colorado Springs Art Guild, Pueblo Art
Guild, and the Business of Arts Center in Manitou Springs. My work
has also been shown at the Gallery of Contemporary Art at the University
of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the Manitou Springs Town Hall, the
Colorado Springs Airport, the Spanish Peaks Arts Council in La Veta,
Colorado, and at the Hays Arts Council in Hays, Kansas. In addition,
I had prints on display at the 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004
Colorado State Fairs.
After almost 30 years with
Pacific Bell of California, as a manager in the Staff and Engineering
Departments, I retired in December, 1990. Having survived the rigors
of living in Southern California, including the earthquakes, my wife
and I moved to Colorado in 1994. Because I am fascinated by black
and white images and because I have a color vision deficiency, I am
a 100% black and white photographer.
