Photography has been part of
my life even before I received my BA in scientific and industrial
photography from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California. As
a senior staff photographer with the Stanford Research Institute (now
SRI International) in Menlo Park, California I photographed varied
projects ranging from artificial intelligence to life sciences. I
also did commercial photography in Silicon Valley.
I left the corporate world in the late 1990's and now devote all my
energies to doing what I love most, natural history photography. Photographing
abstract and close up images in the western part of the United States
and capturing the intricacies and complexities of nature on a small
scale within the open western landscape.
I use both film and digital
media and the images are printed on archival paper with pigmented
inks. I do not do computer manipulation. I try to match the original
transparency as closely as I can, any corrections I do could also
be done in a traditional darkroom setting.
